TRIMLEY ST MARTIN PRIMARY SCHOOL |
This afternoon, we had our first cooking session. As our current topic is 'All about me' we made 'Biscuit faces'. We were each given two water biscuits and spread a little bit of butter on them. We then gave our faces hair, eyes, a nose and a mouth by using grated cheese, grated carrot, grapes, cucumber, cress and cherry tomatoes.

As you will see, I titled the previous blog entry 'Christmas cards...and a quick note'. Well it appears the 'quick note' part never made it to the published post, my mistake!
It was just to let you know, that Reception class has been short on staff due to ill health, and that the children's books may only get changed the once this week - they will be changed tomorrow ready to take home for the weekend. Again, my apologies for this, but thank-you for your understanding. Thank you to those of you who have sent in lovely baby photos of your child.....once these have been photocopied we will send them back home with the children. If you haven't sent one in, please don't worry, we wont be needing them just yet...and i will upload a blog post nearer the time as a reminder. Many thanks, Miss Rushbrooke This evening, the children will be bringing home their Christmas card designs. I know it sounds odd to be thinking about christmas already but the process of ordering the cards and sending them off to the printing company can take a good few weeks.
If you wish to order your child's christmas card design, please could you return the slips by Friday 29th September. Thank you. .This week we have been taking part in lots of 'listening' games and activities, and today we went on a 'listening walk' around the school.
The first thing we had to do was colour in a pair of big ears, and then the adults helped us to attach them to a headband. Just before we went on our walk, we talked about what sort of things we might hear on our listening walk and wrote these on the whiteboard. Some of our ideas included; Children talking and working, teachers teaching, Mr Childs in the hall, Mrs Ross working and Miss Todd typing. We then put on our 'listening ears' and tip-toed around the school- we had to be super quiet so that we didn't miss a sound! Once we had tip-toed around the school, we came back to our classroom and discussed what we had heard. We heard lots of the sounds we thought we might, but we also heard some other sounds such as; Computers buzzing, KS2 children cooking, children coming out of the hall and the photocopier printing out papers. Miss Rushbrooke said we had great tip-toe feet and some fantastic listening! Take a look at some photos from our 'listening walk'..... Thank you to all those who came along to our 'Meet the Teacher' session this afternoon, it was great to see so many faces!
Apologies if i babbled on and spoke rather fast....like I said, I can stand in front of 30 children and speak....adults is a different story! If you have gone home and thought 'I should of asked that question' or 'I didn't really understand the bit about....' then please speak to the member of staff at the gate in the morning, and a message will get passed on to me and I will get back to you....and honestly, no question is too silly or small! For those who were unable to attend the session, I have printed off some copies of the presentation I can send home, or please feel free to catch me after school this week, or arrange an appointment at a later date. Again, many thanks for coming along. Miss Rushbrooke Firstly, I would like to say and big WELL DONE to all the children (and parents) for having a great first morning! As daunting as the thought may of been about starting 'BIG' school, the children soon settled in, and they are beginning to find their feet.
These first few days we have been busy getting used to sitting on the carpet and listening and understanding how our 'planning board' (activities) work and getting used to the daily routines of school life, such as register, snack times, lunchtime and hometime. We have also had our first taste of PE lessons with Mr Childs. Today, we took off our shoes and socks and went into the hall to play some parachute games- we had lots of fun! We are already very proud and very pleased of the children and how well they have settled in to class Hughes! You may of seen on the note i put up on the door, that we have our 'Meet the Teacher' session on Monday (11th September) straight after school. It will just be a 20 minute (ish) talk about what to expect in the coming year. We may need 5 minutes just to quickly set the chairs up, but please then come and join us in the Reception classroom. We hope to see lots of you there! Thank-you , Miss Rushbrooke and Mrs Rushbrooke (sorry- we like to make it confusing!) Have a look at some photos taken during our first few days........ |
