As part of our Literacy we read the story- 'Are you ready to play outside' by Mo Willems. We watched the story being read on the interactive white board.

We used this story as a start to our challenge. Mrs Ross had hidden pictures and words around the garden. The challenge was to find them all and mark them off on a treasure hunt sheet.

We used this story as a start to our challenge. Mrs Ross had hidden pictures and words around the garden. The challenge was to find them all and mark them off on a treasure hunt sheet.
In groups we investigated our outside area, ticking off the pictures as we found them and sounding out to read and then write the words.
As part of our challenge we then had to write a list of where the pictures and words were found. Mrs Ross was particularly impressed with Lewis. "Chair has a digraph (ch) and a trigraph (air) in it", as he wrote his list.
We discovered that our outside area wasn't really 'Ready for us to play outside'. We decided it would be best to clear away the autumn leaves and get it ready for our new areas of play.

We have made a big long list of resources the children would like to see outside and we will be passing this on to Mr Stock.
