As part of our 'Chinese New Year' week, today we made 'Chinese red envelopes'.
During Chinese New Year it is tradition for children to be given red envelopes (or Hongbao) containing money, from their parents, grandparents and other relatives. Within the Chinese culture, the colour red symbolises energy, happiness and good luck, and sending red envelopes is a way to send good wishes and luck.
