In our cooking session this week, we have been marking the celebration of 100 years since the end of World War 1.
We made 'boiled cake' - which uses lots of dried fruit and mixed spice. It also does not contain any eggs - making it a 'ration' cake.
Firstly, we had to melt the butter with the dried fruit, sugar, salt, water and spices. Then we had to add some bicarbonate of soda and quickly stir it while it fizzed and foamed up in the saucepan.
Once the mixture was cool, we had to carefully put some into the cupcake cases...and then cook them!
We have saved our cupcakes to enjoy at our 'Red, White and Blue' street party tomorrow.
