We then went outside onto the playground to have a look at the fire engine. The Firefighters showed us some of the equipment they use in different situations - we liked all the different sized hoses and the big scissors (jaws of life) which the can cut through big pieces of metal like car roofs. The Firefighters then let us squirt some water about with the big hoses. We were all very excited and had lots of fun with the Firefighters and would would like to say a big THANK - YOU to Peter, Neil, Adam, Mark and Paul for coming out to visit us today.
This morning, we had our last visit for our 'People who help us' topic. Miss Rushbrooke's partner very kindly came to see us with his 'watch'. They spoke to us about all the different ways they help us, and asked us if we knew why we have fire drill practices at school, if we have smoke detectors at home and if we knew what to do if there was a fire. They were really impressed when we told them we knew to call 999! They also showed us their uniform and told us when and why they have to wear each item of clothing - some of it was really heavy!
