Nanny Ivy and Grandad Ru handed out some stockings, filled with lots of wrapped up little parcels. Each parcel contained something children may of been given in their stocking on Christmas morning!
They told us that they did not have a television when they were little, and when they did there was no colour pictures, just black and white!
Nanny Ivy and Grandad Ru also told us about how they had to make their own fun, often creating toys and games from things they had at home.
They showed us a toy which children used to make. It was a button (or circular piece of cardboard) which was threaded onto some wool. the idea was to then hold each end of the string, and make the button spin round and round very quickly. Nanny Ivy and Grandad Ru very kindly made each of us one of these special toys to take home!
We would like to say a big THANK-YOU to Matthew's Nanny and Grandad for coming in to speak to us, and to Matthew's Daddy for coming along too- it can be quite daunting facing a class of 30 excitable 4&5 year olds!
