In computing this half term, the children have been learning how to use TinkerCAD. They have explored how to make shapes (changing the height, width and colour of them) as well as how to combine two shapes together. In this lesson, they were using the merge tool to put two shapes together to make a hole in 1 of them. They were then able to combine these with other shapes to produce a pencil pot. Great use of this learning gem:After making our periscopes, we tested them out and then thought about how we can see things through them. The children used a bank of words to describe how they worked. Good use of this learning gems:The class have been busy helping Mr Childs to tidy up the courtyard this morning. Great use of these learning gems:We took a break from our usual science lesson this week to take part in our school science week. We had the same theme as the national science week this year - connections - and we were looking at our connection to the world through mobile phones (particularly focusing on what elements from the Earth go into mobile phones and where these elements come from). We started by looking at the periodic table and finding out the names for the symbols of elements included in a mobile phone. We also found out how scarce these elements were and whether they came from an area where there are wars. Following this, the children made question tellers to help them come up with questions they would like answers to. Good use of these learning gems: |
