TRIMLEY ST MARTIN PRIMARY SCHOOL |
The children have been working hard on speaking French. Today they had a conversation with a partner where one of them was the shopkeeper and the other was a customer.

Today saw the first six children perform their poems to the rest of the class. In Mandela Class we are lucky enough to have Mr Harvey work with us to help a different group (each half term) to learn a poem off by heart and recite it to the rest of the class. This is a skill, which is not only part of the Year 6 expectations for reading, but is also a life skill which prepares the children for High School and beyond. It always amazes me how all different types of children respond to the task and the change which occurs in their confidence and ability in just 6 weeks. Well done! Good use of these Learning Gems:

Working togetherToday we enjoyed our visit to Crucial Crew’ where we were learning about safety. The Rotary Club worked hard to plan an interesting morning of workshops for us to take part in. The whole class were brilliant, so polite and keen to learn more - a credit to TSM! Good use of these Learning Gems:We started our science lesson this afternoon by making a card model of the heart which we then used to explain how blood travels through the heart.
Following this, we looked at how the digestive system and circulatory system are linked. We showed how nutrients in food are transferred through the walls of the small intestine into capillaries, which then send them into arteries. Finally, we chose how to present our understanding of this process. Good use of these learning gems:As our guitar teacher wasn't in this afternoon, the children first practised their piece on the guitars ready for next week's sharing assembly. Then they used an app to help them compose their own spooky music. Despite this being the first time they had used the app, we were pleased with what they were able to produce! Good use of these Learning Gems:Today in science, we were talking about blood. First we played a game of dominoes using the key words from our topic. Next the children watched a video clip and learnt there were different things that make up the blood in our bodies and that each part has a different job. Then, they were able to choose from a range of materials to represent the different parts. Using a photo of their 'blood sample', the children then labelled the different parts of the blood and explained they jobs they do. good use of this learning gem:
