This week, we worked on another fair test enquiry. We worked as a class to identify what things we could change and measure, identifying only 1 thing that we were going to change. Then, the children worked in groups to choose the materials they were going to test and record it in their tables. They independently wrote predictions to explain what material they thought would be most reflective and why. After a carefully carried out fair test, the children then drew bar graphs to show their results before writing a conclusion to explain what they found out - trying to explain why they got that result using the knowledge they had from our previous light lessons.

This morning we worked on algebra using Cuisenaire rods. The children used the rods on an app on the tablets as well physical rods to help them solve the problems I had set. Good use of these learning gems:In English we have been writing in the style of an evacuee, selecting either a diary entry or a letter home. Then we worked to together to edit and improve our first drafts before completing a final neat copy. Final drafts - Either a Diary Entry or a Letter HomeGood use of these Learning Gems:We began our science lesson this afternoon with a bit of maths! Each child had a torch and, in groups, they were asked to make different shapes including isosceles triangles and hexagons. The children then carried out an investigation into shadows. They had to carry out a fair test in order to work out where they needed to stand in order to be able to get a shadow of their head in a photo frame on the wall. Good use of these learning gems: |
