Today we have been playing a BIDMAS game to test our knowledge of how to use the order of operations (BIDMAS) to solve calculations. BIDMAS helps you to work out which order you should work out a calculation. Without BIDMAS you do + first and then ÷, so the calculation would look like this - 24 + 72 ÷ 8 = 12 24 + 72 = 96 96 ÷ 8 = 12 With BIDMAS you do ÷ first and + last, so the calculation would look like this - 24 + 72 ÷ 8 = 33 72 ÷ 8 = 9 24 + 9 = 33 It's been great fun learning a new mathematical skill! |
