We have had a busy couple of weeks in science. First, we looked at how diet and exercise can affect bodies. The children used what they had learnt in their Y2 and Y4 science lessons to identify the variety of foods they need to eat to stay healthy. They then learnt about what affect those foods had on the body. After this, we carried out a scientific enquiry to find out the recovery rates of different children in the class. The children predicted who they thought would have the best recovery rates in their group and why (most thought it would be those who did the most sports) and then explained what they had found out afterwards. Following this, we looked at the affect of drugs on bodies - focusing on the drugs athletes might take to improve their performance and the positive and negative impact of them. Finally, we were really lucky to have two virtual visitors who joined us from Ipswich hospital to tell us about their job as cardiac physiologists and how it linked to our current science topic. The children then produced a page in their book to show what they had learnt.
